So, why is everyone losing the head with Joan Rivers over Palestine comments?

The comedian has come under fire for her controversial views.

SO, JUST WHY is Joan Rivers dominating your Twitter feeds?

Well, yesterday TMZ shared a video of Joan Rivers being interviewed by a paparazzo at LAX. The paparazzo asked her about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. After pointing out that nearly 2,000 Palestinian civilians have lost their lives in the conflict, Rivers launched into a tirade.

Ask Colin Powell. When you declare war, you declare war. They started it. We now don’t count who’s dead. You’re dead? You deserve to be dead. You started it. You started it. Don’t you dare make me feel sad about that.

Later in the video, she says:

They were told to get out. If you don’t get out, then you know you’re an idiot. And at least the ones that were killed were the ones with very low IQs.

Needless to say, the comments have attracted a lot of ire.

Afterwards, Rivers released a statement on her Facebook page in which she claimed that her comments were taken out of context.

But people weren’t buying it.

Interestingly, the Twitter uproar has led people like Lauren Laverne to urge people not to focus on Rivers’ looks when criticising her.

This isn’t the first time that Rivers has weighed in on the conflict. In July, she defended Israel’s right to defend itself, saying:

If we heard they were digging tunnels from New Jersey to New York, we would get rid of Jersey.

She reiterated the sentiment last week during an appearance on Howard Stern’s radio show.
